A Post in Which I Pretend I Can Cook

I have been trying to eat healthier. It's not really a New Year's Resolution, it's more of a man, I'm past 30 and moving on so I'd better be healthy.  Today I made a healthy dessert that just might satisfy a chocolate craving!  It's called Oreo Cream. I got the recipe from SparkRecipes.com.   It's definitely delicious and I just had to take a pic, because ever since the Pioneer Woman's food photo challenge, I am kind of liking photographing food!

I edited in PhotoShop and applied one of my favorite actions called "Dave's Ethereal Glow" You can get this action free from http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm It takes the softness of a photo up a notch by making it even more glowish looking. Glowish, as in, all glowy looking. :)

Mr. Freeze

Today we spent the day at the Delmar Loop Ice Carnival. This was the last photo I took there. He saw my camera and posed!  I had so much fun taking pictures all day even if my fingers were frozen!

Flying Weim and the Bone Catcher

Flying Weim and the Bone Catcher, originally uploaded by KTVee.
I spent about an hour taking pictures of a lime dropped into water, only to snap a few of the dogs playing on the way to upload the photos. The dogs were CRAZY and I think, as you can tell by Lucy midflight, serious about their bone-fight! :)

Tag It!

It was by accident, but once again, turquoise has made it's way into my daily photo! It is true, I am in need a 12-step program to recover from Turquoise addiction.

Mixin' Like Oil & Water

A few days ago, I was reading a blog post by Jodi Freeman on Pioneer Woman's photography site.   I immediately loved the pictures for two reasons: 1.) Their bright colors and most of all 2.) The bright colors.  Why hadn't I thought of running into the bathroom and filling the sink with oil and food coloring?   It's a simple set up, easy to clean up and wash down the drain, and while I didn't get the amazing results that Jodi got in her pics, I was happy with the crazy swirls, bubbles, and splashes I did capture.  This sort of reminds me of a cross between seventh grade science, think 'cytoplasm', and Ghostbusters, think 'ectoplasm."

Swirly Bubbles

These were actually the first ones taken. The oil and food coloring do not mix, which resulted in a globby bit of colorful chaos that I kind of liked.

I might have to try this again with purple.....

Rhythm of Color

Rhythm of Color, originally uploaded by KTVee.

Today's theme was to take a photo that shows "rhythm." The only musical bone I have in my body is my ability to shuffle songs on my ipod. So, I decided to make a rhythm of color with some scraps I had near my desk. I wonder what song this might be? Definitely something upbeat....

These Boots are Made for....Memories

Today's DailyShoot.com assignment is: Make a photograph today to serve as a special memory of somebody or something.  I recently cleaned out all of the old from Alex's room to make room for the new.  These boots were something that didn't get tossed out.  Sure, they will never fit her again.  But, these little boots mean more to me than a pair of shoes.  Afterall, every pair of shoes has a story to tell.  These boots, photographed on the new fluffy fur rug in her room represent the merging of the old with the new.  They are what growing up is all about.  I guess the fact that I am hanging on to them is what being a mom is all about.  I'm not hoarding. Really.  I haven't kept ALL of her shoes. :)

These Boots Are Made For... Memories

I'll always remember my lil' cowgirl, cookie in hand, and her first pair of boots. :)

Project 365 & Printing

One week into Project 365 and so far I have managed a photo a day!  I have been thinking of different ways to save the photos and came back to one of my favorites site, Shuttercal.  I love this site because it is super easy to upload photos to, they have an iphone app, and they are offering the chance to order your prints in a cool shoebox style.

Sure I *could* keep the photos on my hard drive, but this year I want to do something with the photos. I am not sure if I will create a book, just print the photos at Costco, or just end up keeping them on my hard drive.

What about you?  What do you do with your 365 photos?

On a side note, it is very clear how much I love turquoise...this color is dominating January so far.  :)

Project 365: New Beginnings!

Last year I made it all the way to August for Project 365.  I use the said Daily Shoot to get my "assignments" because it forces me ot look at things in new ways and take photos I might have otherwise not taken.  This year, I am starting new.  I hope to meet the 365 challenge this year... otherwise, I might just call it "Project 243".   Not quite as catchy, eh?
